Since the commencement of a joint operation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in collaboration with the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation, code-named Operation Wire Wire, 16 cybercrime suspects have been arrested.
Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the EFCC, said this on Friday while hosting the Chairman, Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in his office in Abuja.
He stated that the ‘Yahoo Boys’ are relocating to Ghana following the intensified raids on their hideouts, adding his vows that he will ensure to identify and bring all the suspects to justice.
“It is very sad. It’s like the era of these 419ners and ‘Yahoo Boys’ is coming back”. “I remember we worked with the FBI in Lagos and others. We carried out ‘Operation Wire Wire’.
We are re-energizing; we will go out and storm all their hideouts. Most of them have relocated to Ghana because the heat is on them”, he said.
He ascertain the willingness and preparediness of the commission to maintain the ongoing collaboration with relevant agencies, with a view to curbing the menace of cybercrimes.
